Turntable Repairs and Upgrades

If your turntable is running slow, humming, or dropping a channel, it usually isn’t “dead”.

A lot of faults come from age, dried grease, oxidised contacts, tired cables, or old parts that have drifted over time. 

Hand-in service only: We accept turntables by appointment for drop-off and collection. We don’t offer a mail-in or courier service.

J7 Rewires provides repairs, servicing, and upgrades for turntables and record players, with a quote agreed before any work starts.

What we can help with:

• Speed issues at 33 or 45

• Hum and grounding problems

• Intermittent or dead left or right channel

• Worn or damaged phono leads and connectors

• Tonearm wiring faults, cartridge tags, cueing faults

• Cartridge fitting, alignment, setup checks

• General service: cleaning, lubrication, mechanical adjustment (where applicable)

Repair vs Service vs Restoration

• Repair: Fix a specific fault and get it working again.
• Service: Fix faults plus a full check of mechanics and signal path, clean, adjust and test.
  This is the best option for older decks that have been sitting unused for years.
• Restoration: A deeper overhaul, including cosmetics where required, and a full mechanical and electrical refresh for long-term reliability.

3. Bench assessment, then a clear quote before work starts
4. Repair or service, then final test
5. Collection by appointment once it’s ready
